Paradiski has 70 red runs and 34 black runs. You can then reach Arc 1800 and Arc 2000, and the Vanoise Express, from the Arc 1800 / Peisey-Vallandry sector, links Les Arcs with La Plagne.

What is there to do in Arc 1600 if you don't ski?

Without skis, you can follow walking routes such as the Chemin de Bellecôte, the Chemin des Espagnols or the walks between Arc 1600 and Arc 1800. The view of the peaks begins as soon as you board the funicular from Bourg-Saint-Maurice. To unwind, the Arc 1600 swimming pool is included in some Hero pass packages, and the La Piscine complex has a wellness spa.

How do you get to Arc 1600 by train?

By train, head for Bourg-Saint-Maurice SNCF station. From the station, the Les Arcs’ Express funicular climbs to Arc 1600 in about 7 minutes. Once there, internal shuttles link Arc 1600 with Arc 1800 and, depending on timetables or opening periods, with Arc 1950 / 2000.

Renting in Arc 1600: what you need to know

The resort

Arc 1600 is the first site created in Les Arcs, known as “the original”. Its post-1968 architecture was designed to blend into the mountain and preserve the views and sunshine. The atmosphere is intimate and quiet, but the resort remains well connected: for a rental in Arc 1600 without a car, the funicular climbs from Bourg-Saint-Maurice station in about 7 minutes.

Day to day

You will find local shops, a pharmacy and doctors on site. The Tourist Office is on Place du Soleil.

What kind of stay

With children, we recommend Arc 1600 for its quiet and for the ESF, whose beginner lessons start from about age 3. To ski higher up, you set off on the Cachette and Mont Blanc chairlifts.

Setting off from the snow front

Skiing starts at the Combettes snow front. The Cachette detachable chairlift leaves from there towards the upper runs, and the Mont Blanc chairlift also serves the sector. Arc 1600 is part of Paradiski: 425 km of runs, up to an altitude of 3,226 metres.

First turns

The snow front, on the Combettes side, is set up for first turns, and the blue Combettes run then lets you progress gently. The ESF Arc 1600 gives group lessons from beginner level: for adults, and for children from about age 3 with the Piou-Piou garden.

Going higher

The blue Cachette run is panoramic: it alternates between clearings and forest, with views over the valley. For more technical skiing, the red Gollet and the black Col des Frettes are for intermediate to expert skiers. You reach Arc 1800 via the slopes, Arc 2000 via the Arpette chairlift, and the Vanoise Express, from the Arc 1800 / Peisey-Vallandry sector, takes you to La Plagne.

Without putting on skis

Without skis, Arc 1600 has its footpaths and snowshoe trails: the Chemin de Bellecôte, the Chemin des Espagnols and the walks leading to Arc 1800. Viewpoints higher up in the resort offer views of the peaks, and the view already begins in the funicular.

With children

Les Géants de Malgovert is a play area in the forest, halfway down the Mont Blanc run, with an educational focus on mountain ecosystems. Fun zones and free zones are also accessible.

Summer and wellness

In summer, Arc 1600 offers hiking, mountain biking and archery. For wellness, there is the swimming pool and a spa.

Access to Arc 1600

By train, get off at Bourg-Saint-Maurice SNCF station, in the valley. The funicular (Les Arcs' Express, formerly Arc-en-Ciel) runs up from there to Arc 1600 in about 7 minutes, and it is free for pedestrians during certain periods. By road, you go through the Tarentaise valley, then drive up from Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

Between the Les Arcs sites

The free inter-resort shuttles link Arc 1600 with Arc 1800, then Arc 1950 and Arc 2000, depending on timetables and opening periods. Some lifts are also free for pedestrians or mountain bikers depending on the season.
