From the Grandes Platières, the view stretches as far as Mont-Blanc. Below, at 1,600 m, the centre of Flaine is car-free and you get around on foot from one level to another. When renting in Flaine, we mainly offer 2-3 room apartments, and chalets for up to 12 people in Le Hameau.

Front de Neige and Forum are home to shops and restaurants, and it is from Front de Neige that the lifts and the ski school meeting points start. Flaine Forêt is linked to Forum by the Flaine Supérieur cable car; outdoor lifts and footpaths connect the rest.

Marcel Breuer designed Flaine in the modernist Bauhaus style, and you can explore the resort on foot between two runs. Monumental sculptures by Dubuffet, Picasso and Vasarely stand there; the Bételgeuse building is listed, and the ecumenical chapel is a historic monument.

In Flaine, the slopes come right into the resort and the lifts go up to the Grandes Platières, at around 2,500 m. With the Grand Massif, you have 265 km of runs ahead of you.

We recommend the Grandes Platières sector. The cable car drops you at the summit; from there, as from the Diamant Noir chairlift, blue, red and black runs set off.

For your first turns, the Beginner pass opens three moving carpets, two drag lifts and the Gérats chairlift. Once you have the basics, we recommend the long blue runs Cristal and Serpentine, the latter very panoramic.

Via the Grand Massif runs, you can ski to Les Carroz, Morillon or Samoëns, to change village for a day.

Without skis, go up to the Grandes Platières anyway: the cable car takes pedestrians, and from the summit the view sweeps all around the horizon, from Mont-Blanc to the Jura. On foot, marked paths also lead to the Col de Pierre Carrée, an easy hike.

On snowshoes, marked routes leave from the resort. To climb under your own steam, a ski touring route goes up to the summit of the Grandes Platières. And the Désert de Platé, a large limestone pavement, can be discovered on a walk.

When the children are not skiing, we recommend the pedestrian centre: no cars, and free activities, from the snowman competition to the torchlight descent. On the snow, the Urban'Z and Ze Fun Slope fun zones have features within their reach right from the start.

At the end of the day, the resort offers spas, yoga and wellness areas, and some chalets in Le Hameau have a spa. At the table, you stay in Haute-Savoie: tartiflette, fondue, raclette.

In Flaine Forum as in Flaine Forêt, several of our residences are at the foot of the slopes. Le Hameau de Flaine, for its part, is a neighbourhood of Scandinavian chalets, linked to Flaine Forêt by a free ski bus.

With young children, Aldebaran, in Flaine Forum, is at the foot of the slopes and the ski school meeting points, a stone's throw from the shops. In Flaine Forêt, the Résidence de la Forêt is about 50 m from the start of the slopes and the ski schools. For a big group, the chalets in Le Hameau sleep up to 12 people, some with a spa; Arche, in Flaine Forêt, mainly has large apartments, for up to 10 people. For a swimming pool, look at Les Terrasses de Veret and Le Panoramic: at the foot of the slopes, they also have covered parking. To stay within budget in February, Andromede has been the cheapest of our residences over the last two winters.

By train, get off at Cluses, about 29 km away; Geneva airport is about 71 km away. By car, drive up to the entrance car park for your level, Forum, Forêt or Front de Neige. The key handover depends on the accommodation: the exact place and opening hours are shown on your voucher.
