Ski Holidays Val Thorens

Perched at 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is a high-mountain resort where the snow holds well. When renting in Val Thorens, our addresses mainly offer studios and 2-3 room apartments, for up to 4 or 6 people depending on the residence.

The architecture is modern, and you walk from the residences to the shops and the snow front. The atmosphere is international, and festive around the bars in the centre.

We recommend Val Thorens to families who want to find everything in the resort: the snow garden welcomes children from 2 years old at Prosneige, and from 3 years old at the ESF. Good skiers will find the Combe de Caron, the Christine on the Péclet side and Les 3 Vallées right at their ski tips.

In Val Thorens, skiing starts at the snow front, from where several lifts depart. The resort's own ski area alone has 150 km of runs, from 1,300 to 3,230 metres.

For your first turns, we recommend the Easy Rider zones, free for discovering skiing without a ski pass, before moving on to the dedicated green and blue runs. Once you feel confident, take the Tête Ronde blue run or the easy routes of the Friendly Natural Park, with wide panoramas.

The Cime Caron cable car goes up to around 3,200 metres in a panoramic cabin. In this sector, the north-facing Combe de Caron black run starts with a steep section. On the Péclet side, the funitel reaches a sector close to the glaciers, where the Christine red run unrolls nearly 700 metres of vertical drop. For a long descent in the sun, we recommend linking the Boismint and Plan de l'Eau red runs: about 1,000 metres of vertical drop, over varied terrain.

With the 3 Vallées ski pass, you can ski over to Les Menuires, Méribel or Courchevel. Via Orelle, the lifts also cross over to the Maurienne side.

In Val Thorens, you can take a break from your ski week without going down into the valley: everything starts from the resort.

The La Piste aux Étoiles sledge run can be used from 3 years old with an adult, from the place Caron and the Castor & Pollux moving carpet: 250 metres of descent for 45 metres of vertical drop.

Several lifts are open to pedestrians. We recommend the Cime Caron cable car and its panoramic cabin, up to around 3,200 metres, or the Péclet funitel, which goes up close to the glaciers. Up there, you will find viewpoints and mountain restaurants. Around the resort, many footpaths and snowshoe routes set off for walks.

For a change of pace, try snowtubing or the zip line, and stop by to see the sculptures on the slopes. The igloos also host evenings, or even an unusual night. At the table, you stay in Savoie: fondue, tartiflette or crozets.

In Val Thorens, our six residences are split between the top of the resort, closest to the slopes, and the centre, closer to the shops.

To limit walking in ski boots, we point you to the top of the resort. At Serac, place de Péclet, you cross the street to reach the slopes: some accommodation is 50 m away, from studios to 2-3 room apartments, for up to 6 people. Opposite the Péclet shopping centre, Les Neves also has some accommodation 50 m from the slopes, mainly 2-3 room apartments for up to 4 people.

With children at ski school, we recommend Les Olympiades, mainly studios for up to 4 people: the ESF meeting point and the Castor & Pollux blue run are 100 m away, and the shops at the foot of the residence. L'arcelle opens onto the pedestrian rue de Caron, next to the slopes, with studios for up to 4 people. For more peace and quiet without leaving the centre, Lauziere offers studios and 2-3 room apartments for up to 4 people, and you reach the slopes from the back of the building. Le Valset, 200 m from the shops, mainly offers 2-3 room apartments for up to 4 people.

The nearest station is Moûtiers - Salins - Brides-les-Bains, about 37 km away, with the S63 Altibus shuttle to the resort. By road, access is from Albertville via the N90 to Moûtiers then the D117.
