Ski Holiday Foncouverte

With a rental in Foncouverte, you stay in a village in the Maurienne valley, at around 1,160 metres in altitude, on the road that climbs from Plan des Rois towards La Toussuire.

The village has 16 hamlets, Savoyard houses with stone-slab roofs and peaceful lanes. In summer, herds graze in the alpine pastures. We recommend Foncouverte if you are looking for peace and quiet, with La Toussuire as your starting point for the slopes.

Foncouverte suits you if you want to sleep close to the old village and reach La Toussuire by road to ski. With children, the playground at the edge of the village, with its tables and benches, makes for a simple break away from the slopes.

To ski from Foncouverte, you go up to La Toussuire, which is part of the Sybelles ski area: 136 runs and 68 lifts between 1,200 and 2,620 metres in altitude.

For your first turns, we recommend the La Toussuire beginner snow front. It has 5 runs, 4 green and 1 blue, with the Petite Verdette and Musique drag lifts, and it is free for children under 5. The Espace Gliss Les Lutins adds two very easy runs, two covered conveyor lifts and a secure sledging run with free access.

The ESF La Toussuire welcomes children at the Club Piou-Piou from 2 and a half to 4 years old, then in Ourson from 4 to 5 and a half, then in Flocon.

For experienced skiers, the Sybelles ski area has 35 red runs and 11 black runs.

Without skis, you can walk around the hamlets: the La Bise - Le Crêt circuit is 4 km long with around 200 metres of ascent, and the L’Adret circuit 3.3 km with around 177 metres. For the view, the Pointe de l’Ouillon, at 2,431 metres, offers a 360-degree panorama over the Oisans and the Vanoise National Park.

The ESI La Toussuire offers snowshoe outings and Nordic walking. La Toussuire also has dog hiking and a via ferrata. As for food, matafans, a local speciality, feature in the resort's events.

The Pôle Enfance La Ruche welcomes children from 10 weeks to 12 years old, with a multi-care nursery and a leisure centre. Its kids' club offers themed activities for 3-10-year-olds.

Foncouverte is on the D78 departmental road, the mountain road that climbs from the Maurienne valley towards La Toussuire.

The nearest SNCF station is Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne; the climb to Foncouverte and then La Toussuire is then made by road.

In La Toussuire, the internal shuttles (Ski Bus) are free and are used for getting around the resort.
