Ski Holidays Peisey-Vallandry

When renting in Peisey-Vallandry, two links matter: the Vanoise Express links Plan-Peisey with Montchavin-Les Coches, on the La Plagne side, in under four minutes, and the free Télivillage goes up from Peisey to the centre of Vallandry in about seven minutes.

Vallandry, at 1,600 m, has its snow front and its lifts right from the resort centre; Plan-Peisey, at 1,650 m, is the other village, and the slopes can be reached from either. The resort is bordered by forests, at the foot of the peaks of the Vanoise National Park, with traditional alpine villages.

For shopping, there are mini-markets, bakeries, a cheese shop and delicatessens.

Opened in 2021, the Vallandry gondola goes up to the summit of Vallandry. This is where Premières Glisses and Premiers Virages start, two beginner routes that lead back down to Vallandry. The resort also has 8 green runs and progression areas in Vallandry, Arc 1800 and Arc 2000.

The blue runs Forêt and Rhodos go down under the fir trees. Forêt, soothing, suits intermediate skiers; Rhodos follows a balanced course, in filtered light. The red run Aigle, demanding, links curves between the trees, with varied terrain.

The Vanoise Express, a double cable car, links Plan-Peisey with Montchavin-Les Coches, on the La Plagne side, in under 4 minutes. Towards Les Arcs, inter-resort shuttles serve Arc 1800 and Arc 1600 from Vallandry.

Without skis, you can walk in the forest and discover the chapels and heritage of the villages.

In Vallandry, the Forêt des Pitchouns is a calm, fun area, with a progression zone and themed runs for the youngest; Les Cabanes add other fun features. Plan-Peisey and Vallandry each have their own École du Ski Français, and the resort also has independent instructors.

The Vallon de Rosuel and the Pont Baudin Nordic site offer walking trails and snowshoe routes; the Domaine Nordique de Peisey-Vallandry, in the same valley, is the place for cross-country skiing. At the top of the Vallandry gondola, the panoramic terrace faces Mont-Blanc, and the Muséum des Animaux de Montagne presents more than 30 species. Sledging and paragliding are also possible.

Savoie cheeses and artisan charcuterie can be found in grocery shops, farm produce at the Peisey cheese shop or directly at the farm; a local microbrewery produces its own beer.

The nearest SNCF station is Landry, 10 km from the resort. By car from Chambéry or Grenoble, take the A43 to Albertville, the RN90 towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then the D87 and D226 departmental roads for about 10 km. From the airports of Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry or Grenoble, the Altibus coach goes to Bourg-Saint-Maurice or Landry, and shuttles complete the journey.

Several free shuttle lines link the villages: line 5 runs from Bellecôte-Vallandry to Plan-Peisey, and line 5bis links Arc 1800, Vallandry and Plan-Peisey. The Télivillage, also free, goes up from Peisey (1,300 m) to Vallandry (1,600 m) in about 7 minutes.
