About Bourg Saint Maurice
Bourg-Saint-Maurice sits at 840 metres on the valley floor of the Tarentaise, and it is a working town of some seven thousand people rather than a ski resort, with shops, schools and a life that carries on well beyond the winter season. That is the appeal of a ski rental Bourg-Saint-Maurice: valley prices and a lived-in place to stay, with the slopes only minutes away. The Les Arcs Express funicular, running since 1989, climbs 810 metres from the town centre to Arc 1600 in seven minutes. From there, Bourg-Saint-Maurice accommodation opens onto the 200 kilometres of runs at Les Arcs, and on to the 425 kilometres of Paradiski via the Vanoise Express cable car. The town is also the end of the Tarentaise railway line, with direct TGV and Eurostar services in winter, which makes a car-free trip entirely realistic. Come summer, the Isère takes over: the Claude-Peschier whitewater stadium has hosted the canoe slalom world championships three times. A ski rental Bourg-Saint-Maurice trades ski-in ski-out convenience for access, amenities and a genuine town to come back to.
