Ski Holiday Tignes le Lac

Our rentals in Tignes le Lac are in one of the central villages of Tignes, on the lakeshore, at around 2,100 metres in altitude. The village opens onto a large snow front, from where you set off into the ski area.

Food shops, sports shops and Le Lagon are in the village. If your group doesn't ski at the same pace, we recommend Le Lac: those who stay down below have everything on hand, without taking the shuttle.

The ESF Le Lac welcomes children from 3 years old in Mini Piou-piou. Good skiers have the Tovière gondola leaving from the village to cross over to Val d’Isère. In winter, an ice rink is set up on the frozen lake, between Le Lac and Val Claret.

From the Tignes le Lac snow front, you go straight into the Tignes ski area: 150 km of runs, from 1,550 to 3,450 metres in altitude.

Beginners have fun zones right on the snow front. For your first turns, we recommend the Grand Pré green run, a panoramic run; in the same sector, the easy Club des Sports blue run is good for warming up in the morning. The Chaudannes chairlift, leaving from Le Lac, also leads to gentle runs.

The Tovière gondola leaves from Le Lac and goes up to the top of the Tovière. This is the way to cross over to Val d’Isère, on the Fresse and Bellevarde side, with the Domaine Tignes - Val d’Isère ski pass.

For a long descent, La Double M starts from the Grande Motte glacier and ends in Val Claret, linked to Le Lac by the free shuttles. On the Brévières side, the Aiguille Percée detachable chairlift is brand new, installed at the end of 2025.

In the village, Le Lagon has a swimming pool with a paddling pool and a mini water slide for children, and a wellness area for teenagers and adults.

For a family break, we recommend La Banquise, in Le Lac: an igloo village and a snow maze, with free access. The sledging runs are free too; snow tubing is possible from 3 years old, dog sledding from 2 years old.

Walking and snowshoe trails start from the village, towards the Chardonnet lakes or along the balcony trail to Tignes 1800, from where the free shuttle brings you back. For the view without effort, the Tovière gondola also takes pedestrians up. In summer, the Palafour and Paquis lifts carry walkers and mountain bikers.

For a Savoyard dinner in the apartment, the Le Lac shops sell Beaufort, tommes and charcuterie, as well as regional takeaway dishes.

In Le Lac, you choose between the village centre, close to the slopes and shops, and the quieter Les Almes area, a few minutes' walk from the centre. Our agency, at 275 Promenade de Tovière, is open every day; our customers rate its welcome 4.5 out of 5. The exact place and opening hours of the key handover are shown on the voucher, as they depend on the accommodation.

For ski lessons, we recommend Palafour: some properties are 10 m from the slopes and the ski school meeting point, with the swimming pool and shops close by. At the Chalet Millonex, you can ski from the door and the school is from 20 m away.

To stay as a large group, look first at Combe Folle, a quiet residence in the village centre: its large apartments sleep up to 14 people, and some properties are 50 m from the slopes. The Chalet Millonex sleeps up to 12 people, Bec Rouge up to 10.

To keep the budget down, Bec Rouge was the cheapest of our residences in February over the last two winters. By car, look at Télémark and Maison Neuve, where almost all properties have a parking space, or tick the “Parking / Garage” filter. The nearest SNCF station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then the road climbs about 30 km to Tignes via the Lac du Chevril; in the resort, free shuttles link the villages of Tignes.
