Ski Holiday Le Charvet

Le Charvet is one of the pedestrian villages of Arc 1800, at around 1,800 metres of altitude. With a rental in Le Charvet, you can do without a car: from the snow front to the shops, you get around on foot.

The district has its shopping arcade, its ski shops and its ski pass offices: you can get your equipment and your ski pass on site.

With the family, you have the ESF Skimômes mini-club at the foot of the Lauzières residence: it takes children from the age of 3, by the half-day or the day. Experienced skiers will find 36 red runs and 17 black runs in the ski area.

From Arc 1800, the Transarc 1 and Transarc 2 gondolas go up to the high-altitude sectors. They give access to the Les Arcs - Peisey-Vallandry ski area: 200 km of runs, up to 3,250 metres.

The Club Piou Piou of the ESF Arc 1800 takes children from the age of 3. For lessons, the École de Ski Privilège is in the Charvet arcade, and the ESF and Arc Aventures by Evolution 2 are in Arc 1800. Once the first turns are done, the ski area's 50 blue runs let you progress gently.

Barmont, an easy blue run, dark blue on its upper half, goes down to the village of Vallandry; you reach it via the Charmettoger chairlift or Transarc 1. For a red run, Les Arolles runs through the forest, away from the main flows, from the Cachette chairlift. To change sector, the Carreley chairlift leads towards Arc 2000 and Villaroger, and Transarc towards Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne.

In Le Charvet, the buildings are terraced down the slope, and you go from one level to another via ramps, lifts and public passageways.

On foot or on snowshoes, balcony trails leave from Le Charvet. We recommend the one that goes via Dahu to Chantel and Charmettoger: about 2 hours' walk, with views of Mont-Blanc and the Tarentaise valley.

To see far, go up to the summit of the Aiguille Rouge, at 3,226 metres: from its suspended footbridge, the view stretches across the Alps. To unwind, the resort also has a swimming pool and a fitness area.

With us, in Le Charvet, you mainly stay in a studio or a 2-3 room apartment, almost always near the slopes; a few chalets sleep up to 10 people.

With young children, we first recommend Belles Challes: some accommodation is 10 m from the slopes and 50 m from the ski school, and our agency is in the residence. Lauzières, which connects with Belles Challes, has the Skimômes mini-club at its foot and sleeps up to 7 people; its south-facing balconies overlook the slopes, those facing north-east the fir trees and Mont-Blanc. Bellecôte, next to the snow front, has some accommodation 20 m from the slopes.

To stay with up to 10 people, look at the Chalets de la Croisette, our largest properties this winter: detached chalets, with a spa and parking in front of each chalet. They are 1 km from the resort, which you reach by car or on foot via the lifts of residences such as Chardons or Pierra Menta. Chalet Blanc, a detached Savoyard chalet near the slopes and shops, sleeps up to 6 people.

By train, get off at Bourg-Saint-Maurice: the funicular goes up to Arc 1600, then a free shuttle drops you at the Le Charvet stop, in winter as in summer.
